2 Graves (2019)
Material: Ink & Chalkboard Spray-paint
Surface: Bristol on Illustration board
2 Graves is a series that deals with inner turmoil and the self. It is dirty, messy, unrestrained, torn & disfigured. Each piece represents 3 nadirs of the mind. Eye for example tackles the idea of ugliness, how the self is the biggest critic. Drip tackles the idea of blindness. How despite the desire to move forward, you are still unresolved. Drop is the final piece of the series. It represents the past. How human beings burden themselves with their own past mistakes and faults. These three elements are the three pillars concerning inner turmoil and self hatred. To see oneself as lesser and ugly, to the blind oneself from the world around them and finally to cling onto the past. This creates a broken being, moving forward but remaining static cold and machinated, and slowly being consumed by the darkness of negative thought.
